Normally, when I go into this store everyone is extremely helpful. I purchased these amazing sequin pants online because they didn’t have them in this store. I was worried about sizing so I purchased two different sizes. After getting them both in the mail, I decided on one and wanted to exchange the other. I went into this store and found two more very cute sweaters I wanted to exchange them with. Instead of exchanging them out they returned my pants and wanted me to pay full price and use my coupon on the sweaters. Being a former employee of express, I said “you should of rang up the sweaters, exchanged out my pants, and applied the coupon, you are not doing it right.” They said “no they don’t do it that way their store would lose money.” Now I have to wait 3-5 business days for the return to be back on my card and I left without any sweaters and the store missed out on a profit. I called customer service to make sure the policy has not change since I was a sales lead at express. Policy states “We will accept returns and exchanges for items purchased Online based on the following requirements. We will not accept a return or exchange if requested more than 60 days after the purchase. Express.com orders may be returned by mail, or, if shipped to a U.S. address, may be returned to any Express or Express Men store in the U.S. Express.com orders cannot be returned or exchanged in stores outside the U.S. or at Express Factory Outlet stores. Express.com cannot handle returns or exchanges of purchases made in stores.” The policy was still the same and it should of been an exchange. Customers please beware with exchanges. Don’t allow them to return your item and make you pay full price for what should be an exchange. You are entitled an exchange and it doesn’t matter what store or even if it was done online. You just can not exchange or return from an outlet. I understand that the store didn’t want to lose out on money because it was an online purchase order but that’s not right. I was willing to purchase two more sweaters which would of been a profit for the store and I wouldn’t of had to wait to get my money back. It’s important in sales and training to educate the employees and make sure they are adding on to the return and getting even more sales. I hope the education improves at this location. Shame I really liked those other sweaters.
